Sneak Peak #3

So this tablescape is taking a bit longer than I thought.  But between working and all the other stuff, it will get there one day.
As it comes together, it is becoming a tropical setting, and I'm OK with that.  Some of the things I already had, like these fruit pieces.  That's good for the budget, right?  I've also added a few more flowers.  I'm not good with flower names, but I think the yellow flowers are Hibiscus.
There's more to come so stay tuned.

Creative Dinning

Hello everyone.  It's been a few days since I've been able to write anything, but I have finally gotten a chance to actually sit down for a few minutes.
Over the weekend, I decide to have a special dinner for two, beach style.  We don't live on the beach so I brought a little beach to us.  I had our pool pose as beach water. ( Sometimes you have to be a little creative.)
I had a few shells and colored pebbles along with a bottle shaped like a fish and some cuttings from one of my plants in my pool area.  I found a little bit of moss and added to the centerpiece for an authintic beach feel.  Put it all together and what do you got?  A beach setting.  Oh, and I can't forget the tablecloth.  It wasn't actually a table cloth, it was a shower curtain.  (see... creativity?!)
Anyway, the menu was Spinach leaves topped with grilled shrimp on the barbie, along with a few tomatoes, carrots and croutons.  A garlic butter sauce on the side and a glass of white wine.
We had a very nice dinner for two.

Summer Decor

I love Pier 1!  They put out so many bight colors you have no choice but to be in a good mood when your there.  It makes me want to re-decorate my pool and outdoor living area every time I go in there.
Here's some of the things I loved....

Kitchens with Style

A bit of a French Flair.  Beautiful and yet a comfortable feel.  Love the high ceilings with those fabulous wooden beams!

Traditional kitchens probably rank the highest in number for homes.  (that's just my thoughts)
This one is perfect for entertaining.  It actually includes the cook in the gatherings.  The designer and decorator did a great job in all areas.

Would you have a fireplace in your kitchen? I think I might if it connected somehow to the dinning room or enteraining area.

2nd Sneak Peak

Here's the 2nd peak at what's being added to my tablescape project.  I think it's coming together nicely.

Color in White Rooms

White is so appealing to me.  Crisp and clean looking.  The designers who designed the rooms below  show how you can still have a white room and throw in a pop of color to give it some life.

Tablescape Project

I absolutely love dishes!  I would have a different kind for every event and season if I had the room to store them.
I have decided to put together a tablescape. My plan is to keep it budget friendly.  Hopefully it won't take too long to finish.
As I start working on this Summer tablescape, sneak peaks are in the works.
Here's your first peak....
A lemon and orange color with polka dots.  In my opinion, you just can't get any cuter than polka dots.  I have some thoughts of what I'm going to do, but I don't want to spoil the surprise so until next time...

Just Sleep On It

Yesterday, I talked about whether or not to keep the room that will be my office the blue color that it is or change it.

I should know this by now, all I needed to do was sleep on it.  When I woke up this morning and walked into that room, I knew without a doubt that I for sure did not want to keep the blue.  I'm just not a blue person.  But I do like it for other people.  Now, Sara, from Sara's House on HGTV makes blue look fabulous.  But for me I think I'm going with white walls.  Oh, and the sheet will have to wait around for another project down the road.
For now, I'll keep looking for inspiration pieces and keep you informed on what's going on with my upcoming office.

Decorating In Stages

As you know, (if you read my about me section) we are now empty nesters which leaves me with two extra rooms not occupied.  One room I have already started decorating  and have come to a stop due to the fact that I haven't been able to find the pieces that I want to finish it with. The other thing is that I got bored with it so I stopped decorating.  Does anyone else do that or is it just me?  Talk about decorating in stages!
I've decided that I need a separate office from my husband.  I could go into a lot of reasons why I think I need to be separated from his space, but I'll play nice today.  Let's just say...I need it. (love you honey!)
The room I'm talking about was painted a blue color when my son lived in it and that was good for him.  But I'm thinking I want to go white or just a slight off shade of white with an elegant nautical look.  The more I think about it, this is where I could start working with my wanna-be a cottage look.  Hmmm.   Maybe I could go with both, the nautical and cottage look blended together?  I can't decide right now,  My thought was to make curtain panels from them and add some really pretty fringe or decorations along with another fabric to add length and personality, or perhaps use the sheet as an accent to another drapery fabric instead.  So many decisions to make.  This project will definitely be done in stages due to lack of immediate time this summer and indecisiveness.

So my dilemma is...white or blue walls with these soon to be curtains.  Keeping in mind that I can't stand the thought of painting but I will do whats best for the room.  Maybe you can help me decide.  Leave me a comment if you like.

Beautiful container garden

I love urns. I can't help it, I just do.  To me they make a statement and when you add vibrant color to them with plants it just says "I'm beautiful".

My Dream Driveway

I have no idea what's behind this georgous tree lined driveway except a lake.  I'm sure the home is just as beautiful.
