My Thoughts Are Not His Thoughts

I have some exciting news to share.  We found out that my husband got this job he interviewed for about a week ago.  Talk about excitement!  As we were discussing the things about this new job and what new roles we would be playing,  I found out he wanted me to try my hand at the yard.  Oh, ok, I'm thinking.  So in my mind I see taking care of flowers, watering etc.  No... he's thinking... mowing! Uh, what?  So as it stands I'm going to learn how to drive the John Deer mower.  Lord, help our lawn.  Anyway, the photos below might help me try and remain calm and hopeful. They are pictures of gates in gardens.  I must of been thinking of a way to escape, hence the gates.

Have a great Monday evening!

My Best Yard Sale Find

It's been several days now since I've had a chance to sit down and write.  Lots of work related stuff going on this week kept me busy.  So this morning, I set down and got caught up on my blog reading.  It's amazing how one gets so addicted to reading blogs.  (hate to use that word, but it is what it is)

I did however set in my mind at the beginning of the week that I would go visit some yard sales on Saturday since it had been a while.  I found several things I thought were really cute but the one item that was my favorite was not anything to decorate your home with.  It has to do with guiding you down your life's paths and making you a better person.

The Living Bible

I have this Bible and LOOOVE it.  It's so easy to read.  Lately I've been thinking that I would like to find another one to give to my son, but I knew they did'nt make them anymore so I did'nt put alot of stock into it.  And what do you know, my first yard sale I stopped at there it was.  I was so excited!  I can't wait to pass it on to my son

Flip Flops and Wine

I have to show you these adorable flip flop coasters that I bought while we were in Colorado visiting my family. Just the mention of their name (Razzmatazz) tells you that the store is  oozzing with fun.  You can check out their website www.razzmatazzgi.com to get a glimpse.
The inside of this store is AMAZING.  Can't wait to go back when we visit again.

Sheds - They're not just for storage anymore

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a fantastic day and enjoys the last day of the weekend.
Today, my husband and I are working in the yard and focusing on the area around our shed.
Sheds have come a long ways.  They're not just for men anymore nor are they just for storage.  Decorating is a must.  It seems to me that one would want to start with painting the outside to set the scene.  The landscaping should be as equally important so following through with possibly a deck and lush greenery with bright vivid flowers would complete the outside.  Finishing up on the inside with adorable decorations would be how I would probably do it.  Sounds like so much fun!
Our shed is just a shed and it's used as a shed.  As much as I would like to use it for other things; well, let's just say that will probably never happen.  However, I love to dream about having one of my own and making it really cute.  Maybe one day I will.

Tid Bits

Today was grocery day and as usual my cart automatically went to the magazine department.  There were a couple of new August issues out so I bought the Martha Stewart "Living" and the Phyllis Hoffman "Celebrate".

It just so happened that a watermelon made it's way to our house today and as I was reading the Martha Stewart - Living magazine, she had a little tid-bit in it on cutting a watermelon.  It was called "on the level".  She explains how to cut a wobbly watermelon where it's easier to handle.  She says to remove both ends and stand the watermelon on a flat surface.  Carefully run your knife down the side of the melon to remove the rind, then slice into wedges.  So I tried it.  Easy, breezy!  It save alot of time doing it this way.

I love watermelon and as hot as it is here in Florida, watermelon is a staple in our house (and it's good for you).
With the heat raging at 92 degrees, it's a little hard to start thinking about the Fall season.  But... it is going to be here before we know it.
Phyllis Hoffman "Celebrate" did it again.  What a great magazine.  This is her Festive Fall Issue and it is loaded with all the fall decorations imaginable.  Gorgeous!

Color Dilemmas

What's a girl to do? I have this dilemma, so bare with me as I think this out loud.  I bought this cute little love seat sofa for my office that I'm about to start decorating but I can't decide what color to put on the walls.  I don't want to be bold, like painting the walls orange.  I think I would get bored with that before long. I would like it to be casually elegant.  The lightest color in the sofa  is cream so I'm thinking of going off white or cream on the walls and add my color in the drapes etc.  As you can see in the lower corners of this picture, I've been scouring magazines for ideas.   If anyone has any suggestions I'm definitely open to consider them.

Tropical Tablescape Is Finished

Hey yall, remember the tablescape I started a while back?  Well, I finally finished this little project of mine.   It was actually starting to bug me.  I really don't remember when I started putting it all together, but I do know that there has been alot going on in my life since then so I know it's been a while.
I have added a bit more since the last sneak peak.  There are red and green round placemats, more greenery and sticks, more fruit, glasses,, forks and I thinks that's it.  Anyway, take a look and see what you think.
