Old Tattered Books

Old tattered things always catch my attention, especially books.  They give off such beautiful color and texture.
I have just a few that I have collected.  I get really excited (for some reason) when I find one that's written in my birth year.
The books here are just for looks and have a home in my office for the time being.

The books above sit on my bookshelf.  They are actually very large books with perfectly tattered edges.
Oh, did I just happen to get a picture of my middle son in this photo?????!!!(hehe)
As we go down in size, the edges are not quite as tattered as the ones above but still give you a feel of old.  The basket with the ribbon acting as a bookend, is one of my favorite baskets in my home. I like the heavy weave and the bow adds a feminine flair.

I fell in love with these two books when I saw them.  The top book has such an awesome print and has obviously been loved and read a bunch.  The black and beige color sets it apart from any other book I've seen.
I love the look of an old worn out book like the one on the bottom.

Vintage things always pull me in and mesmerize me.  Can you just imagine if they could talk...the stories they could tell.

Have a wonderful day!

  5. Oh I love old books too, my friend. They are the best. There's something about them that tells us that they have been read a thousand times. Nel is a book lover, and would love your collection. Her office is filled with books. And I see you have your wonderful son's picture along with the books...he looks very handsome. I hope you are having a nice weekend.

  10. They are lovely! I was just at a garage sale this morning that had a few old books..I picked up three because of the colour and age of them. I was just deciding where to put them (I bought 3) and about putting a burlap ribbon around them or some other shabby chic home made tie.
Yours are beautiful and your son is a sweetie!
    Blessings!
I've added you to my blog list so I can see your posts pop up! That way we can catch up more often.
    Hugs!
