Canning Food

This is something I might be interested in learning how to do....Canning food.
Don't these look yummy! I found these on Social Cafe Mag.

Although, I think I need to increase my garden...from 2 tomato plants to.... a lot more of everything.
They have really made these look appealing and also gave some very good information at Prepare Wise

Of course I'll have to top them off with cute little fabric jar covers as they have done here at Epicurious.  There was also alot of good information on how to do this, as well as equipment and technique information found on their site.
Canning Jams, Preserves
I had to add this beautiful photo from the Not dabbling in normal blog. You should take a look at their site.  They show additional photos of jars that are so pretty.  Imagine that...a picture of jars that's pretty.  Love it.
So, can I do this?  The one thing that may hold me back is....I'm terrified of pressure cookers.  EEEK.  But maybe...We'll see.

  1. I would love to do something like this! But I'm rather cautious about trying things that seem complicated. Having said that lately we've been baking our own bread, THAT was scary at first but it turned out great. Let me know how you go, I'd be interested to know :)

  3. This is such a fun and colorful post. Canning up the stuff - we do that for pickles occasionally.

  4. you can do it when I was young and canned my first time I just did what they call cold pack, boil your jars in a big canner full of water.
I canned 40 quarts of tomatoes out of my first garden and didn't loose a jar. It was so fun and no one in my family believed i did it LOL

  5. I was just telling my husband that we should start canning. There's nothing like homemade canned jams. Maybe when he retires, I will start the process. I think I will need help doing this. haha
